Bulk Unit Refill Process
Photos by Don Ford
For those who use a bulk unit
(and it's a great tool to use if you don't yet use one as it greatly reduces
your cost per print). There are many ways that you can do this, but here is
a simple, mostly non-messy way.
|
 |
Use the bottles that
your inks come with or a set with an easy dispensable cap like shown
here. |
|
 |
Fill the bottle with
the inks that you are going to fill with.
Pour just enough into the bottle that you will
be pouring into the bulk unit bottles unless you have a method of
recapping the bottle to protect against evaporation.
If the opening is narrow, you might want to cut
some of the lid off to allow the ink to flow more easily into the bulk
unit bottles. |
|
 |
Remove the lid from
the bottle carefully. It is a good idea to twist the bottle rather than
the lid so that the tubing does not get kinked or tangled.
Pour the ink to about 3/4 full.
Make sure that you do not allow the inks to get
any lower than approximately 1/4 full. This will insure that you do not
lose the vacuum. |
|
|
Reclose the lid, again
by twisting the bottle rather than the lid.
Voila! You've refilled your bottles without losing
your vacuum on your unit. |
